Recently, Google and Yahoo implemented changes that could impact email delivery. Since February, compliance with three key email authentication protocols: SPF, DKIM, and DMARC, are now required to reach certain recipients. The change primarily impacts those using personal email accounts ending in @gmail.com, @googlemail.com, @yahoo.com, @ymail.com as well as Google Workspace users.
Without email authentication, your email messages will be more likely to be flagged as spam or even returned.
The first step is to scan your domain for possible issues with DMARC, SPF and DKIM records. (You can safely ignore the BIMI result.)
Sender Policy Framework (SPF) consists of a DNS TXT record that tells other servers what email services you use.
This prevents malicious actors from spoofing your email address.
DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) using public key encryption technology to verify sending email servers.
This requires a key to be created by your email provider and added to DNS records.
Domain-based Message Authentication Reporting and Conformance (DMARC) is a mechanism receiving email servers use to report back to domain owners about SPF and DKIM compliance of messages purportedly from their domain. Ultimately, this allows you to block illegitimate messages from other domains. This is a multistep process configured in your DNS. Ongoing monitoring is also required to ensure legitimate messages are not blocked.
We have partnered with EasyDMARC to provide email management that takes care of everything you need to become fully DMARC compliant.
The cost for this service is $400, which includes one year of monitoring of up to two domains. Alternatively, an on-going monthly plan is available for $40 per month.
